A2K AND THE CIVIL SOCIETY

 NGOs:

Build a network and offer assistance to public-interest non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for the promotion of democracy, education, culture, and the spread of knowledge and development.

 Consumer Groups:

Stimulate discussions on intellectual property - more specifically access to knowledge - and limitations and exceptions to copyrights. Included in such discussion should be the perspective of the consumer in order to guarantee their rights and promote civil liberties and general awareness of the public.

 DRMs/TPMs:

Discuss issues related to technological means of controlling access to intellectual works such as DRMs (digital rights management) and TPMs (technological protection measures) embedded in media forms such as CDs and DVDs.

 Creative Commons:

Stimulate the use of more flexible licenses, such as the CC, for educational, scientific, and research materials.
